Megaman X: Rejected Creation
Part Two: Stealth
Nexus approached the open roof top entrance from the stairs, cautiously walking in with his buster at the ready. The sunset outside shined through the sheet glass windows into the hallway, making it all glow a soft orange colour. Nexus glanced out at the view over through the window, seeing far over the many buildings of Able city. He smiled a little before turning his head, seeing the body of a human model, red armoured maverick on the floor next to him. The back of his armour had three deep stab wounds, obviously taken out by surprise.
Nexus stayed silent while he shook his head, before turning round to head in the other direction. The sounds of his footsteps were dulled on the carpeted floor, as he ran down the corridor towards a tall stairwell.
Downstairs on the ground floor, missiles fired out of the banks glass windows, hitting the buildings on the opposite side of the street.
Move any closer and well start shootin hostages! A low toned voice shouted out from the banks entrance.
On the left side of the street, a small group of hunters arrived at the scene, lead by a bold, tall maverick hunter.
Sigma, sir! The commander of the security force said before walking over. What is our current situation? Sigma replied as he stopped, his unit waiting behind him.
Well, they have several hostages, and are threatening to harm them if we dont send them transport out of the city. Two hunters from unit 10 have already entered the building from the rooftop and are proceeding to take out the maverick threat humph a purple armoured maverick hunter mumbled behind Sigma.
Which hunters? Sigma asked, ignoring the purple hunters comments behind him. Shatter Tuatara and
A new hunter called Nexus The commander replied, reading a report sent from HQ on his arm computer.
Thats it? Ha, Tuatara and a newbie, ha, ha, ha The purple hunter said mockingly, intimidating the commander a little. Sigma, let me take care of this
Ill turn them into scrap metal
Vile
Sigma replied sternly, turning his head to look back at Vile. Vile crossed his arms and stared at Sigma, refusing to back down. The commander stared blankly at the both of them, before turning round to check on his security soldiers guarding this side of the street.
Go, but if the hostages are harmed, you will be held responsible Fine by me Vile replied cockily, before running off. Sigma watched him go, before looking back at the bank, thinking about this new hunter before turning to the matter at hand.
Nexus slowly made his way down the stairwell, his footsteps echoing loudly on the cold metal stairs.
Floor 7...Floor 7 He kept repeating over and over in his mind, concentrating to keep the map of the building in his head while he walked. He suddenly stopped, hearing two voices near his position. He pressed himself against the wall as a door opened above him, two of the brotherhood mavericks walking onto the stairwell floor above him.
Still cant reach him? A husky voice said as the footsteps stopped.
Nope, if hes slacking off instead of patrolling the roof, Ill scrap him The other voice said, before the two mavericks started walking upstairs.
Too late Nexus thought to himself, as the mavericks left ear shot. He turned his head, seeing floor 7 marked on the wall next to him. There you are
I better move fast before they find him. He walked over to the door, peeking through the glass in the centre before opening it.
Several mavericks stood on the ground floor lobby, all coloured red and human modelled. Four stood by the large broken glass windows, another two by the hostages behind the counter and the last two, the Fire Brothers, were sitting on a bench in the centre of the lobby. The two leaders stood out from the rest of the mavericks, one heavily armoured and tall, the other with two large gas tanks on his back, hooked up to his arm cannon.
We should just go out blasting! the smaller brother said, getting very impatient.
Im not in the mood to be blown up, well wait for the choppers
They will send them What makes you so sure? They wouldnt want a human to be harmed would they? The taller brother replied, looking over at one of the hostages, a mother with a small child in her arms.
Stupid humans, they should all burn! The smaller brother shouted at the few human hostages. Oh they will
All in good time
. Sir! We have a problem! A husky voice said through their com system.
Nexus slowed to a stop outside a black door, with Power Regulation marked on the centre. He looked down both sides of the hall before entering the password on the keypad, making sure the coast was clear. As it opened, he rushed in, his buster armed and already pointed ahead.
Whew He said with relief, seeing the room was empty of anyone. The room itself was long, wires and pipes going in and out of the walls, and a small computer panel on the wall at the end.
Nexus walked over to the panel, the door automatically closing behind him.
Lets see, overload the system by
Cutting off the regulation system He mumbled to himself, remembering the schematics he was shown at HQ. He prodded the touch screen, reactivating the computer from its standby state.
Huh? Nexus said confused, seeing an enter password window pop up. Theres another password? They never said
Maybe its the same as the door? He said to himself, as he entered in the code he had entered for the door. Access Denied flashed on the screen in red, before it went back to its enter password screen.
Er
Um He started looking around the room, trying to figure an alternative plan. I wonder if
Nexus backed off from the panel, before pointing his buster directly at it.
Shatter is going to kill me if this doesnt work He said as he charged his weapon, firing a large blast at the panel. It exploded, leaving a large hole in the wall while the force of the blast shook a few floors above and below floor 7. The humming from the circuitry slowly got louder, as he stared at the large hole.
That worked
Uh-oh Nexus said worriedly as he realized that the whole system was overloading.
Vile stood on the roof of the building next to the bank, only half as tall with a short gap between them. As the last of the suns light finally faded, he pointed his shoulder cannon at the banks side, aiming for a glass wall on a lower floor. Most of the bank was plated with glass, yet he liked to make an explosive entrance.
Ill show them how strong I am Vile said confidently as he fired a large blast at the wall, before jumping off the building towards it. It hit the building side in a big explosion, rocking the building and making a large hole in the side where it hit. He landed through the hole with a heavy thud, into one of the empty offices.
What the hell was that? One of the five mavericks said in a small corridor, most of them knocked off their feet.
Have they decided to bomb us or something!? Another shouted angrily, as ahead on the left of them opened. Nexus stumbled out of the room, and turned his head, seeing the group of mavericks to the left of him. As the mavericks got to their senses and saw him, another door flew off of the wall onto the floor on the right. Just as Nexus turned his head to the right, Vile stepped into the corridor, turning around to face Nexus and the mavericks behind him.
Vile aimed his shoulder cannon towards them as the mavericks raised their arm cannons, just before a loud screech echoed through the hall. Nexus dropped to the floor as nearly everything in the room next to him overloaded, exploding into a large electrical fire. The whole building lost power, including the lights making most of the inside of the bank pitch black.
A large energy blast fired out of Viles shoulder cannon, flying just over Nexuss head into one of the mavericks behind, blowing him from the waist up into little pieces. A short fire fight started, with shots flying back and forth over the crouching Nexus, who fired blindly at the Mavericks to the left. A final blast flew towards the group, absorbing all their shots before colliding into the maverick in the centre of the group. All of them disappeared into the explosion, brought by the energy blast from Vile. The light faded as did the smoke, showing the group of mavericks lying on the ground smouldering, most of them in pieces.
Nexus slowly stood up as his visor activated, lowering in front of his eyes before switching to night vision mode. He stood looking at what was left of the group of mavericks, before hearing footsteps behind him. He turned, suddenly feeling Viles hand grab him by the neck. He lifted Nexus up and rammed him into the wall beside him, his shoulder cannon pointed directly at his head.
I
Im a
Maverick hunter Nexus managed to say, while being pushed against the wall.
Humph
So youre that new maverick hunter I heard about
Youre no better then that weakling X
X? Nexus replied, still struggling in vain to get free.
Listen kid
If you know whats good for you, you will keep out of my way
Unless you want to end up like them Vile said in a low tone, nodding his head slightly towards the pile of retired mavericks. Nexus stopped struggling and slowly nodded his head before being let go, dropping to his knees. He stood up as Vile turned and walked away, rubbing his neck a little as he watched Vile go.
Nexus, do you read me? Tuatara said through his built in communication system. Yes sir He replied, still watching as Vile disappeared from sight. Are you alright? There was a large explosion. Im alright, just a little shaken, Alright. Good work with the lights, Ive just been informed by HQ that the explosion a minute ago was caused by another hunter arriving, he is very dangerous and will most likely compromise the mission, try to keep away from him.
We just
Met, sir.

One thing that has always confused me is the use of the word retired. if it is in more than one piece, it is dead.
